Rory McIlroy Slips Behind in BMW Championship After Challenging Second Round
Rory McIlroy experienced a challenging second round at the BMW Championship in St. Louis, falling five strokes behind leader Wyndham Clark. After starting strong with a six-under-par in the first round, McIlroy managed only a one-under-par 69 on Friday.
Wyndham Clark maintained his lead with a flawless round, finishing at 12 under par, one stroke ahead of Gary Woodland. McIlroy, now at seven under, is among several players trailing Clark, including JJ Spaun and S.J. Im.
McIlroy noted that while the conditions were similar to the previous day, he did not perform as well. He expressed pride in his ability to save par on several holes, despite a mistake on the par-five eighth that resulted in his only bogey.
