Rory McIlroy Struggles at FedEx St. Jude Championship
Rory McIlroy faced challenges during the FedEx St. Jude Championship, concluding the event in 66th place with a score of 8-over par after rounds of 74, 70, 72, and 72 at TPC Southwind.
McIlroy attributed his difficulties to a lack of competitive play since The Open Championship, noting that his swing never felt in sync throughout the week. He expressed that he struggled with overthinking his swing rather than focusing on his shots, particularly after a disappointing finish on Thursday.
Despite the tough week, McIlroy showed signs of improvement, making five birdies in his final ten holes on Sunday. He remains in the top 50 and is set to compete in the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club next week, where he plans to work with his coaches to regain his form.
