Rory McIlroy to Compete in FedExCup Playoffs Opener in Memphis
Rory McIlroy has announced his commitment to compete in the FedExCup Playoffs opener at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, taking place next week in Memphis, according to the PGA Tour.
This will mark McIlroy's 12th start of the season, as he joins a competitive field that includes World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, defending FedExCup champion Tommy Fleetwood, and last year's St. Jude Championship winner Justin Rose. McIlroy, who opted out of last year's playoff opener at TPC Southwind, has not played since The Open Championship last month.
At 37 years old, the Northern Ireland golfer is aiming for his fourth FedExCup title and currently sits in 12th place in the FedExCup standings, with his only victory this season being at The Masters in April.
