Rory McIlroy's Strong Performance at Tour Championship
Rory McIlroy heads into the final day of the Tour Championship with a chance to win after a strong performance during his third round at East Lake.
On Saturday, McIlroy shot a 63, placing him five shots behind the leader as he aims for his fourth FedEx Cup title. His putting skills were particularly noteworthy, as he led the field in strokes gained putting, gaining 3.4 shots on the greens and making nine birdies.
This marked the first time since the opening round of the 2024 Tour Championship that McIlroy topped the strokes gained putting leaderboard. He attributed his success to improved approach play, which allowed him to set up easier putts. As he prepares for the final round, McIlroy faces competition from Viktor Hovland, Scottie Scheffler, and Ludvig Aberg, who are ahead of him on the leaderboard.
