Russell Westbrook Retires After 18 NBA Seasons

Russell Westbrook has announced his retirement from professional basketball after 18 seasons, as revealed in a social media video. The nine-time All-Star and 2017 NBA MVP shared the news on Wednesday, marking the end of a notable career.

Drafted fourth overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2008, Westbrook played for seven teams, concluding his career as the NBA's all-time leader in triple-doubles with 209. Throughout his career, he averaged 20.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 8.0 assists over 1,301 games.

Westbrook was part of the NBA's 75th anniversary team and achieved significant milestones, including two scoring titles and three seasons averaging a triple-double. He also contributed to Team USA, winning gold medals at the 2010 World Championship and the 2012 Olympics.
