Russia Warns of Potential Strikes on UK Military Targets
On August 27, Russia issued a warning that it could strike British military targets both within and outside Ukraine. This statement was made in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory utilizing British cruise missiles.
Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, emphasized that the UK is nearing complicity in what she termed terrorism against Russian civilians, which could lead to severe consequences if the UK does not alter its approach.
The warning followed accusations from Russia that Ukraine had used British Storm Shadow missiles to attack a shopping center in Donetsk, resulting in civilian injuries. The Kremlin criticized the UK for exacerbating the conflict, particularly after Britain announced it would provide Ukraine with access to technology for producing Storm Shadow missiles.
