Ryan Bertrand Leads £87m Investment Proposal for AFC Wimbledon
Former England defender Ryan Bertrand is spearheading a consortium that has proposed an £87m minority investment in AFC Wimbledon, a club in League One.
The investment plan includes an initial £16m for a 34% stake in AFCW PLC, the club's operating company, with the remaining £71m allocated over five seasons until 2030-31. If approved, Bertrand would serve as a senior football advisor, overseeing operations while adhering to budgets set by the AFCW PLC board.
The Dons Trust, which currently holds a 50.01% voting share, would retain control over key aspects of the club, including the stadium's freehold and the club's identity. The voting period for Dons Trust members to decide on this proposal concludes on November 17, following a previous vote in favor of external investment while ensuring fan ownership is protected.
