Ryan Blaney Secures Pole Position at Phoenix Raceway
Ryan Blaney claimed pole position at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday, recording a lap time of 26.250 seconds. He was joined on the front row by his Team Penske teammate Joey Logano, who finished just 0.032 seconds behind.
Blaney has previously won the last two Cup races at this venue, and Team Penske has shown strong performance at Phoenix in recent years. Chase Briscoe qualified third, followed by Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell in fourth and fifth, respectively. The top ten was rounded out by Tyler Reddick, Ty Gibbs, Michael McDowell, Josh Berry, and William Byron.
A notable development was championship leader Kyle Larson, who will start in 22nd position despite entering the race with a significant points lead. Historically, winners at Phoenix have started within the top 15 in the last 18 races, with the last victory from outside the top 20 occurring in 2017. Carson Hocevar qualified the lowest among Chase drivers in 28th place. Blaney expressed satisfaction with his qualifying lap and looked forward to the race, noting expected changes in track conditions.
