Ryan Preece Secures First NASCAR Cup Win at Daytona
Ryan Preece celebrated his first NASCAR Cup victory at the Daytona race, finishing ahead of Daniel Suarez and clinching a spot in the Chase standings.
Preece, driving the No. 60 RFK Racing Ford, led only five laps during the race, but it was sufficient to alter the trajectory of his season. He crossed the finish line just ahead of Suarez, marking a significant milestone in his 249th career start.
This win allowed Preece to surpass Shane van Gisbergen in the championship standings, taking the 16th and final position for the Chase. Despite Van Gisbergen achieving his first oval stage win, he finished 28th, while Ryan Blaney ended the race in 33rd place after a last-lap crash. The race featured 22 different drivers leading at least one lap, with Austin Hill leading the most at 27 laps, and concluded six laps beyond the scheduled distance.
