Ryan Preece Secures Historic Win for No. 60 at Daytona
Ryan Preece marked a significant milestone in NASCAR by winning his first Cup race at Daytona, driving the No. 60 car, which had not seen victory since 1950. This win occurred during his 249th start and secured him a spot in the Chase.
The No. 60 car has a storied past, having participated in over 400 Cup races but only previously achieving one victory, which was recorded by Bill Rexford at Canfield Speedway in 1950. Rexford, who won the championship that year, remains the youngest champion in NASCAR history.
Preece's triumph adds a second win to the No. 60's record, reviving interest in the car number, which had been absent from the Cup Series for 13 years prior to its return in 2024. The 2026 season has seen a resurgence of wins among car numbers in the 60s, with Preece and others contributing to this trend.
