Sabrina Frederick Retires After a Decade in AFLW
Sabrina Frederick, a prominent player for Collingwood in the AFLW, has declared her retirement, marking the end of her 10-year career with the team.
The 29-year-old shared her decision with teammates and staff during a meeting on Friday, with her final match scheduled against Essendon. Throughout her career, Frederick played 102 AFLW games, including 64 with Collingwood since joining in 2022.
Frederick expressed gratitude to her supporters and acknowledged the challenge of leaving the connections she formed with fans. She began her AFLW journey with Brisbane in 2016 and later made history at Richmond by scoring the club's first goal in the competition. Her contributions to the league were recognized with a Rising Star nomination and multiple All-Australian selections. Collingwood president Barry Carp praised her impact on the club and the AFLW, highlighting her milestone of being the first Collingwood player to reach 100 games.
