Saints Restructure Nathan Shepherd's Contract for Cap Space

The New Orleans Saints are adjusting defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd's contract to generate $2.7 million in cap space for 2026. This is achieved by converting $3.4 million of his base salary into a signing bonus, as reported by Spotrac.

Shepherd, who is 32 years old, is currently set to earn $4.77 million, with an additional $1.3 million possible through incentives. He was originally drafted in the third round by the Jets in 2018 and has since signed multiple contracts, including a three-year, $15 million deal with the Saints.

In the previous season, Shepherd played in 16 games for the Saints, achieving 47 tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in 2027.
