Sainz Questions Certainty of Upcoming Races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi
Carlos Sainz has expressed doubts regarding the planned races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, stating that it is premature for officials to be confident about these events proceeding as scheduled.
While F1 officials, including Stefano Domenicali and Mohammed ben Sulayem, believe the races will take place, Sainz, who is also a director of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association, does not share this optimism. He highlighted the ongoing political situations in the Middle East and the upcoming U.S. elections as factors that could influence the situation in the coming weeks.
Sainz emphasized the need for caution, stating that while drivers would comply with decisions made by the FIA and Formula One regarding safety, the rapidly changing global landscape necessitates a vigilant approach. Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri mentioned a preference for holding the season finale in Australia rather than the potential alternative of Imola.
