Sal Stewart Achieves 100 RBIs as Rookie, Joining Elite Company

Sal Stewart of the Cincinnati Reds made history by becoming the first player in Major League Baseball to achieve 100 RBIs this season during a game against the San Francisco Giants.

His milestone was reached with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning, making him the first rookie to reach this mark since Pete Alonso in 2019. Stewart is only the 45th player overall to collect 100 RBIs as a rookie and the seventh since 2000.

In the ongoing competition for the National League Rookie of the Year, Stewart's offensive statistics surpass those of St. Louis Cardinals' J.J. Wetherholt, as he leads in batting average, hits, home runs, and RBIs. However, Wetherholt excels defensively, which may influence the award decision.
