Sam Butler Requests Trade to Gold Coast from Hawthorn
Sam Butler of Hawthorn has expressed his desire to be traded to Gold Coast after visiting the club's facilities and meeting with coach Damien Hardwick.
AFL Media reports that the trade is expected to be completed towards the end of the trade period and may coincide with Aidan Schubert's move to Gold Coast.
The Suns have proposed a three-year contract for Butler, who played 20 games this season, including eight at the top level, and is looking for more opportunities. This trade could benefit Hawthorn by increasing their draft capital after they traded two first-round picks for Zach Merrett. The Hawks have had a productive trade period, acquiring Merrett and Ben King while only losing a few players, including Butler and Schubert.
