Sam Curran Ruled Out for Remainder of English Season Due to Injury
England all-rounder Sam Curran has been sidelined for the remainder of the English cricket season due to a groin injury, which has dashed his hopes of returning to Test cricket this summer.
The 28-year-old, who last played a Test match in 2021, was being considered for selection in the series against Pakistan following the retirement of Ben Stokes. Selector Marcus North indicated that Curran might have been included in the first Test if not for his ongoing fitness issues.
However, further evaluations revealed that Curran needs surgery, which will take place on Friday, preventing him from participating in any remaining matches for Surrey or England's white-ball series against Sri Lanka in September. Curran had previously withdrawn from the Indian Premier League earlier this year due to a similar injury.
