Sam Naughton Identified as Second Rider Killed in Manx Grand Prix Qualifying
Sam Naughton, a 37-year-old rider from Castletown, was killed in a crash at Doran's Bend during the qualifying session for the Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man on Wednesday afternoon.
This incident marks the second fatality in the qualifying rounds for the 2026 Manx Grand Prix, following the death of Mauro Poncini, who died in a crash in Ramsey on Tuesday. Naughton was participating in the event for the second time, having previously debuted on the 37.7 mile Mountain Course in 2025.
The Manx Grand Prix Races expressed deep sorrow over Naughton's death and extended condolences to his family, including his wife Charlotte and their children. Qualifying for the event is set to continue on Thursday afternoon, with racing scheduled to conclude on August 28.
