Sanjay Manjrekar Criticizes BCCI and ICC Over Player Conduct

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has voiced his criticism of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding their handling of recent on-field confrontations involving players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando during the second Test match in Colombo.

The incident occurred after Fernando dismissed Jaiswal, leading to a confrontation where Jaiswal approached Fernando, resulting in their helmets making contact. Teammates intervened to separate the players. Both were fined 25 percent of their match fees and received one demerit point each for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.

Manjrekar argued that the penalties were insufficient and warned that failing to address such behavior could lead to habitual misconduct among players. He referenced a previous incident involving Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who faced a more severe penalty for a similar altercation during an India A match.
