Sanjay Manjrekar Critiques Sri Lanka's Conduct in Colombo Test

During the second Test match against India in Colombo, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar expressed criticism of Sri Lanka's conduct in the final moments of Day Two. He labeled their behavior as slightly unprofessional, particularly as they navigated the challenges of fading light.

Sri Lanka ended the day at 8/2 after India declared their first innings at 503/9. The dismissal of Prabath Jayasuriya by Manav Suthar in the last over heightened tensions, with players visibly frustrated over the decision to continue playing in poor light. Manjrekar noted that their focus on the light situation detracted from the game itself, commending Suthar for his performance.

Despite acknowledging that Sri Lanka might have had a valid point regarding the light conditions, Manjrekar maintained that this did not excuse Jayasuriya's dismissal. He highlighted India's determination to remain on the field, which he believed influenced the umpires' decision to continue play. At the end of the day, India held a commanding 495-run lead over Sri Lanka.
