Sanjiv Goenka Discusses Rishabh Pant's Departure from Lucknow Super Giants

Rishabh Pant's time with the Lucknow Super Giants concluded after just two seasons in the Indian Premier League, despite the franchise's significant investment of ₹27.4 crore to secure his services during the 2025 mega auction. This made him the most expensive player in IPL history at that time.

During his tenure, Pant played 28 matches and scored 581 runs, but the team's performance declined, finishing seventh in 2025 and tenth in 2026. Following the IPL 2026 season, the franchise announced that Pant and the team had mutually agreed to part ways. Despite this, franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka expressed that he maintained a positive relationship with Pant, stating they continued to communicate even after the contract ended.

Goenka mentioned that he and Pant have plans to meet for dinner, emphasizing their friendly rapport. He also addressed speculation regarding tensions between them, asserting that their relationship had always been good. After leaving LSG, Pant returned to his former team, the Delhi Capitals, for ₹12 crore, a significant reduction from his previous salary. LSG subsequently signed Kuldeep Yadav as Pant's replacement.
