Sara Bejlek Advances to Cincinnati Open Semi-Finals Against Coco Gauff
Sara Bejlek of the Czech Republic has advanced to the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open, marking her first appearance in a WTA 1000 semi-final after defeating American Madison Keys.
Bejlek, unseeded and 20 years old, achieved this milestone by overcoming former champions, including world number one Aryna Sabalenka and Barbora Krejcikova, earlier in the tournament. In the quarter-finals, she triumphed over Keys with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), coming back from a set down and trailing in the second set.
In the other semi-final, Coco Gauff secured her place by defeating Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk 6-2, 6-2. Gauff has made adjustments to her game, focusing on net play, which she credits for her recent success. The US Open is set to begin on August 30 in New York.
