Sauce Gardner Expresses Desire to Remain with Colts Amid Team Struggles
As the one-year mark approaches since a significant trade, Sauce Gardner has expressed his desire to remain with the Indianapolis Colts. The trade, which occurred on November 4, 2025, involved the Colts sending two first-round picks and receiver Adonai Mitchell to the New York Jets for Gardner, a two-time All-Pro cornerback.
Since acquiring Gardner, the Colts have struggled, finishing the previous season with a disappointing 8-9 record after a promising 7-2 start. This season has not improved, as the team currently holds a 2-5 record, leading to the dismissal of general manager Chris Ballard. With the trade deadline approaching on November 10, interim general manager Ed Dodds is overseeing a series of trades, including key players like Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner.
Despite the turmoil, Gardner, who has faced injuries and has not yet made a significant impact on the field, has indicated his commitment to the team. He has not recorded an interception in ten games with the Colts and has dealt with calf injuries. Gardner remains under contract through 2030, following a four-year, $120.4 million extension signed with the Jets.
