Scotland and Netherlands Criticize ICC for World Cup Changes
The cricket boards of Scotland and the Netherlands have voiced their criticism of the International Cricket Council regarding recent structural changes to the men's 50-over World Cup. The ICC announced that the 2027 tournament will feature 12 teams in two groups of six, a reduction from the previously planned 14 teams.
As a result of these changes, the three lowest-ranked qualifiers will now compete in a preliminary Super Series, with only the winner advancing to the main group stage. This adjustment means that teams like Scotland and the Netherlands will have to navigate three qualifying tournaments to secure a spot in the World Cup.
