Scotland Appoints Sebastien Pocognoli as New Head Coach

Scotland has appointed Sebastien Pocognoli as the new head coach of their national football team, following the departure of Steve Clarke. Pocognoli, who is 39 years old, previously led Union Saint-Gilloise to a Belgian league title last year and has signed a two-year contract with the Scottish Football Association.

Before taking on this role, Pocognoli was a free agent after leaving Monaco in June. He has a background as a player, having represented Belgium 13 times and played for clubs including Genk, AZ Alkmaar, and West Bromwich Albion. This marks his first international coaching position and his third head coach role in senior men's football.

Clarke left the Scotland position after the team was eliminated in the group stage of the World Cup, where they managed only one win in three matches. Pocognoli expressed his excitement about the opportunity and emphasized his commitment to building on the team's previous successes.
