Scotland's FA Nears Appointment of New Head Coach

The Scottish FA is in the process of selecting a new head coach for the national football team, with a preferred candidate identified and an appointment expected within two weeks.

This new coach will be in place for Scotland's upcoming Nations League matches, starting with an away game against Slovenia on September 26. The search for a successor to Steve Clarke, who resigned after Scotland's World Cup exit, is being led by Craig Mulholland, the SFA's chief football officer.

Mulholland has engaged with various candidates from both the UK and abroad, and interviews have already taken place. It remains uncertain whether the new head coach will be Scottish or from another country. Steven Naismith, who was an assistant to Clarke, anticipates remaining involved with the national team under the new leadership.
