Seahawks Acquire All-Pro Guard Quenton Nelson from Colts
The Seattle Seahawks have made a significant move by acquiring All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts, as reported by ESPN. In exchange, the Seahawks will send a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick to Indianapolis.
Nelson, who is 30 years old, is in the final year of his contract, making this trade a potential half-season rental for Seattle. The team has options to either extend his contract or use the franchise tag, similar to past acquisitions. Seattle will also cover the remaining $9.777 million on Nelson's contract.
With Nelson joining the team, he is expected to play his usual left guard position, allowing 2025 first-round pick Grey Zabel to shift to right guard. This addition is anticipated to enhance the Seahawks' offensive line, which is crucial as they aim to improve their ground game. Currently, the Seahawks hold a 4-3 record and are positioned for a playoff spot in the NFC. Meanwhile, the Colts, who are in a rebuilding phase after a 2-5 start, are looking to trade other key players as the deadline approaches.
