Seahawks Coach Confirms Sam Darnold Will Remain Starting Quarterback
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is facing a difficult season, having sustained a gluteal injury during the opener and struggling since his return. In a recent game against the Denver Broncos, Darnold completed 52.9% of his passes, averaging 5.5 yards per attempt, and threw two interceptions, contributing to the team's overtime loss.
Despite Darnold's performance, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald confirmed that there will be no switch to backup Drew Lock. Macdonald expressed confidence in Darnold's ability to lead the offense, stating that while there are areas for improvement, the team believes they can find solutions with him as the quarterback.
Lock has filled in for Darnold in previous games, showing a strong performance with four touchdowns, but Macdonald noted that this was not reflective of Lock's overall career. The Seahawks are also adapting to a new offensive coordinator, Brian Fleury, who is expected to assess the team's strategies during the upcoming mini-bye before facing the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs.
