Seahawks Promote Velus Jones, Release and Re-sign Irv Charles
The Seattle Seahawks have announced the promotion of wide receiver Velus Jones from their practice squad to the active roster. This move necessitated the release of fellow wide receiver Irv Charles, who was promptly re-signed to the practice squad.
Both players are experienced veterans and do not need to pass through waivers. Jones, a former third-round pick by the Chicago Bears in the 2022 NFL Draft, has had a varied career, including time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints before joining the Seahawks. He has participated in four games this season, contributing two tackles on special teams.
Charles, who initially signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2022, was traded to the Seahawks in May but spent time on injured reserve after the preseason. He previously played 13 games for the Jets, recording seven tackles.
