Sean O'Malley Confirms Rematch with Petr Yan is Set

Sean O'Malley has stated that his rematch with Petr Yan is confirmed, regardless of the UFC's promotional choices at UFC 333. Yan recently regained the bantamweight title by defeating Merab Dvalishvili in Abu Dhabi.

Despite the UFC showcasing Song Yadong, who had just knocked out Umar Nurmagomedov, O'Malley emphasized that the logical matchup is between him and Yan. He pointed out that Yan had previously defeated Yadong while O'Malley had also beaten him earlier this year.

O'Malley believes that their rematch will set records for the bantamweight division, considering their previous encounter in 2022 as one of the year's best fights. He anticipates that the title fight will headline a major event rather than being placed in a co-main position. The UFC has yet to announce Yan's first title defense, but O'Malley expects to hear from them soon.
