Sebastien Buemi to Retire from Formula E After 12 Seasons

Sebastien Buemi will retire from Formula E after the London E-Prix this weekend, transitioning to an advisory role with Envision Racing. His departure marks the end of a 12-season career in the all-electric championship.

During his time in Formula E, Buemi achieved 14 wins, 36 podiums, and 17 pole positions, securing the drivers' title in the 2015-16 season. His retirement comes amid speculation regarding his future, particularly with the series' calendar clashing with the World Endurance Championship.

Buemi's exit was confirmed shortly after Envision announced that his teammate Joel Eriksson would also leave the team, resulting in a completely new driver line-up for the next season. Team principal Sylvain Filippi expressed gratitude for the contributions of both drivers and highlighted Buemi's ongoing role in supporting the team's development as they prepare for the Gen4 era.
