Sei Young Kim Takes First-Round Lead at FM Championship
Sei Young Kim from South Korea finished the first round of the FM Championship at TPC Boston with an impressive score of 8-under 64, taking the lead on Thursday.
Starting on the back nine, Kim made the turn at 2 under par and then surged ahead with birdies on the second and third holes, followed by a birdie-birdie-eagle streak from holes five to seven. This performance placed her one stroke ahead of Japan's Miyu Yamashita and Denmark's Emily Kristine Pedersen, who both ended the day at 7-under 65. South Korea's Somi Lee is in fourth place with a score of 6-under 66.
Kim, a former World No. 2 and the 2020 Women's PGA Champion, ended a five-year winless streak last October. Yamashita, who won the previous week's CPKC Women's Open, also had a strong round despite a double bogey on the eighth hole. Pedersen, aiming for her first LPGA victory, is recovering from wrist surgery and is focused on efficient practice.
