Seibu Lions to Post Kaima Taira for MLB Opportunities
The Seibu Lions of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball have confirmed that pitcher Kaima Taira will be made available to Major League Baseball clubs via the posting system. This announcement was made by the Lions' general manager to Japanese media.
The official posting process is set to begin in early November, allowing NPB players a 45-day window to sign with MLB teams. However, this year's timeline is complicated by a potential lockout starting December 1, which would pause the signing clock if Taira has not signed by then.
Taira, who is 26 years old, had an impressive season with a 1.36 ERA over 146 innings and a strikeout rate of 24.8%. His performance has drawn attention from multiple MLB teams, including the Giants and Blue Jays, as he is expected to attract significant interest this offseason.
