Sentronics Sues Allengra Over Fuel Flow Meter Patent Infringement Ahead of US GP
Sentronics Holdings Ltd, the former fuel flow meter supplier for Formula 1, has initiated legal action against its successor, Allengra GmbH, in a Texas court. The lawsuit, filed on October 16, alleges that the fuel flow sensors currently utilized in all F1 cars violate Sentronics' patent.
The complaint states that Sentronics was the exclusive supplier for the FIA from 2018 until 2025, after which Allengra secured the contract for 2026 to 2030. Sentronics claims that Allengra's meters infringe on its US patent, granted in July 2022, which pertains to a method for measuring fuel flow rates in vehicles.
Sentronics is seeking a permanent injunction against Allengra to prevent the manufacture and sale of these meters in the US, along with damages for lost profits and royalties dating back to 2022. The company asserts that the infringement was intentional and has requested that the damages be tripled. The ongoing legal proceedings are not expected to disrupt the upcoming race weekend.
