Serbian Tennis Player Stefan Milicevic Receives 24-Year Ban for Match-Fixing
Stefan Milicevic, a 29-year-old tennis player from Serbia, has been suspended from the sport until October 2050 due to charges of match-fixing and attempts to recruit players into an alleged corruption network. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced the ban along with a fine of $70,000.
Milicevic was accused of fixing six matches, five of which he participated in, and attempting to manipulate the outcomes of six additional matches between 2022 and 2024. The ITIA stated that he also tried to recruit several professional players into the match-fixing network during this period.
Despite achieving a career-best singles ranking of 1,338 in 2014, Milicevic mainly competed in lower-tier tournaments. The ITIA noted that he failed to cooperate with their investigation, which contributed to the severity of his sanction. Under the terms of the ban, he is prohibited from participating in any tournaments organized by major tennis associations.
