Serena Williams Partners with Carlos Alcaraz for US Open Mixed Doubles
Serena Williams is making her comeback at the US Open, partnering with Carlos Alcaraz in the mixed doubles event. The United States Tennis Association announced that both players have received a wild card entry into the main draw, which starts on Tuesday.
This partnership unites two Grand Slam champions from different generations, adding significant interest to the tournament. Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, has not competed at the US Open since 2022. She returned to competitive play this summer, participating in singles at Wimbledon and doubles with her sister Venus at the Cincinnati Open.
Alcaraz is also returning from a right wrist injury that has kept him out of action since April. He is set to defend his US Open singles title, making the mixed doubles pairing with Williams an exciting addition. The mixed doubles event will feature a new format, including best-of-three matches and a $1 million prize for the winning team.
