Sergio Perez Signs New Contract, Comments on Team Dynamics for 2027
Sergio Perez has secured a new contract with Cadillac Formula 1, confirmed ahead of his home race in Mexico, where Colton Herta will replace Valtteri Bottas during the first practice session.
Perez's contract extends through 2029, coinciding with his milestone 300th F1 race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. While Bottas's future remains uncertain, team principal Marcin Budkowski has not guaranteed the current lineup will stay the same for the next season. Herta, who is working towards obtaining an FIA superlicence, switched from IndyCar to F2 this year.
Perez praised Herta's contributions to the team, noting his valuable feedback and improvement in performance. However, he clarified that decisions regarding team composition for 2027 are not within his purview, emphasizing that Budkowski will make those choices based on the team's needs.
