Shane Bieber Placed on Injured List as Blue Jays Face Rotation Challenges
The Toronto Blue Jays announced on Tuesday that veteran right-hander Shane Bieber has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in the teres major muscle of his throwing shoulder. In response, the team has recalled right-hander Chad Dallas from Triple-A.
Although Bieber's performance this season has not been stellar, he had shown improvement in recent outings. His season began late due to elbow inflammation, and he was a significant contributor to the Blue Jays' success last year after being acquired from the Guardians.
The Blue Jays have struggled with injuries throughout the 2026 season, having used 18 different pitchers for starts, excluding openers. Currently, they have four healthy starters and seven players on the injured list, including Bieber. Despite a record of 64-68 and a -55 run differential, Toronto remains just two games behind the final wild-card spot in the American League, with a 18.4% chance of making the postseason.
