Shane McClanahan Out for Remainder of Postseason
Shane McClanahan will not participate in the remainder of the postseason for the Tampa Bay Rays, as confirmed by Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. The left-handed pitcher had been aiming for a return but has been sidelined since September 3 due to left forearm tightness.
McClanahan's injury history includes two Tommy John surgeries, and despite his optimism about a quick recovery, he was ultimately unable to prepare in time for the playoffs. He was not included in the roster for the ALDS against the Yankees and will now watch the upcoming ALCS matchup against the Guardians from the dugout.
This season, McClanahan recorded a 3.36 ERA over 118 innings in 24 starts. He had previously missed time earlier in the season due to left mid-back tightness. The Rays will rely on Drew Rasmussen, Freddy Peralta, and Nick Martinez in their pitching rotation as they advance in the postseason.
