Shane Steichen Confirms Daniel Jones as Starting QB Amid Struggles
Colts head coach Shane Steichen has announced that Daniel Jones will continue as the team's starting quarterback as they prepare for their Week 8 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jones has faced challenges recently, with the Colts losing their last three games. His performance has declined since a Week 4 victory over Washington, where he completed only 55 percent of his passes for 787 yards, one touchdown, four interceptions, and a lost fumble over the last four games. He has also been sacked 13 times during this stretch.
This season, Jones has a completion rate of 60 percent, totaling 1,398 yards, four touchdowns, and seven interceptions. If a change were to occur, Anthony Richardson, the Colts' No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 draft, would likely be the next option, although he has not played in 2026. The Colts have not won against the Jaguars in Jacksonville since September 2014, and Jones will aim to change that this Sunday.
