Shane Steichen Confirms Daniel Jones Will Start for Colts Despite Recent Struggles
Following a 16-10 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings that left the Indianapolis Colts with a 2-5 record, head coach Shane Steichen announced that Daniel Jones will continue as the starting quarterback for the team's Week 8 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 1.
In a press conference, Steichen expressed confidence in Jones, citing his previous success with the team, including an 8-2 record as a starter last season before injuries impacted his performance. Despite a lackluster showing against the Vikings, where Jones completed 13 of 22 passes for 108 yards and threw an interception, Steichen believes Jones is the best option for the Colts moving forward.
Jones has struggled this season, ranking low in several passing categories and accumulating only one touchdown against four interceptions in his last four games. Steichen acknowledged that Jones needs to improve but indicated that he offers a better chance for success than backup quarterbacks Anthony Richardson Sr. or Riley Leonard. The Colts are currently listed as 7.5-point underdogs for their upcoming game.
