Shane van Gisbergen Achieves First NASCAR Oval Pole at Richmond Truck Race

Shane van Gisbergen has claimed his first pole position for a points-paying NASCAR race at an oval track, leading the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series field at Richmond.

This marks van Gisbergen's 13th career NASCAR pole and his first in the Truck Series, where he is driving the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet. He achieved a lap time of 23.168 seconds, finishing just ahead of Kaden Honeycutt, who qualified second.

In his previous Truck Series start, van Gisbergen finished third at North Wilkesboro. He has also had success at Richmond, with two top 15 finishes in his prior Cup Series appearances at the track.
