Shannon Rowbury to Receive Olympic Bronze Medal After 16-Year Wait

Shannon Rowbury, a middle-distance runner from the United States, is set to receive her bronze medal from the 2012 London Olympics during the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. Rowbury initially finished sixth in the women's 1500m final, believing she had missed out on a medal.

Over the years, the results of the race changed dramatically due to doping disqualifications. Turkey's Asli Cakir Alptekin and Gamze Bulut, who placed first and second, were disqualified, as was Russia's Tatyana Tomashova, who was initially fourth but later promoted to silver. This led to Rowbury being elevated to third place.
