Shea Langeliers Returns to Athletics from Injured List
The Athletics have activated Shea Langeliers from the 15-day injured list ahead of their game against the Mariners. Langeliers, an All-Star catcher, had been sidelined since late July due to a torn meniscus in his right knee.
After undergoing a meniscectomy, Langeliers was initially thought to be out for the season but made a quicker recovery, missing approximately six weeks. He is set to serve as the designated hitter for the remainder of the season, batting cleanup in his return.
This season, Langeliers has demonstrated significant power, hitting 23 home runs and achieving a 123 wRC+ over 416 plate appearances. His defensive performance has also improved, with a current Defensive Runs Saved of 1, a notable change from previous seasons. In a corresponding move, infielder Darell Hernaiz has been optioned to Triple-A after contributing part-time to the A's this season.
