Shedeur Sanders Faces Setback as Browns Stick with Deshaun Watson

Shedeur Sanders has encountered a setback in his bid for the starting quarterback position with the Cleveland Browns, as head coach Todd Monken announced that Deshaun Watson will continue to start in Week 2.

Despite Watson's poor performance in a 34-10 defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Monken opted not to make an immediate change. Watson recorded 205 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception, with much of his yardage coming late in the game.

Monken acknowledged the need for improvement from both Watson and the coaching staff, citing the quarterback's limited practice time with the first team. Sanders, who is currently the backup, will remain in that role for the upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but another lackluster performance from Watson could reopen the discussion about Sanders' potential as a starter.
