Shiho Kuwaki Claims First Major Title at Women's Open
Shiho Kuwaki from Japan won her first major championship by defeating Germany's Esther Henseleit on the second playoff hole at the Women's Open held in Lytham St Annes, England.
Kuwaki finished the final round with a score of 1-under-par 70, totaling 5-under 279 over four rounds. Henseleit forced a playoff by making a long birdie putt on the 18th hole, also finishing with a 70.
During the playoff, Kuwaki made par on the first hole while Henseleit missed a birdie opportunity. On the second playoff hole, Henseleit encountered difficulties, resulting in a bogey, allowing Kuwaki to secure her victory with a two-putt par. This win not only marked her first LPGA Tour title but also exempted her from attending Q-School to maintain her LPGA card.
