Shilo Sanders Bankruptcy Verdict Delayed Until January
The bankruptcy case involving former NFL player Shilo Sanders is expected to remain unresolved until January 2027. This delay follows a request from Sanders's legal team to extend the deadline for post-trial briefs, which has now been set for December 21.
The original deadline for these briefs was November 16, but the time required to generate the trial transcript, which took place from August 31 to September 4, contributed to the postponement. The case centers on whether Sanders can discharge an $11.89 million civil judgment awarded to John Darjean under bankruptcy laws.
A key aspect of the trial is determining if the injuries Darjean sustained during a 2015 incident at Sanders's school were willful or malicious. This distinction will influence whether Sanders remains liable for the debt.
