Shohei Ohtani Returns to Dodgers Lineup as DH Against Reds

Shohei Ohtani returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers' lineup as the designated hitter on Monday night following a four-day hiatus to address ongoing soreness in his left knee, right biceps, and neck.

He resumed his usual leadoff position for the series opener against the Cincinnati Reds. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed hope that Ohtani would perform better than in previous games where he appeared physically compromised.

Despite Ohtani's return to hitting, it seems unlikely he will pitch again this season, as he has not taken the mound since July 3. The Dodgers have decided to focus on his hitting and running, aiming to help him regain his form at the plate. Ohtani is currently batting .279 with 30 home runs and 80 RBIs this season, but his performance has dipped since the All-Star break. Utility player Tommy Edman filled in for Ohtani during his absence, achieving a .412 batting average over four games.
