Shohei Ohtani's Return to Pitching Delayed

Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers will not pitch on Sunday due to knee and biceps problems that have sidelined him since July 3. The team had initially planned for him to start against the Tigers, but discomfort following a bullpen session on Friday led to the decision to postpone his return.

During the bullpen session, Ohtani threw 20 pitches, which is fewer than his typical routine. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts noted that Ohtani is not at full strength and emphasized the importance of his offensive contributions. Instead of Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow will take the mound for the game.

The Dodgers, currently leading the NL West, had intended to gradually increase Ohtani's pitching workload before the postseason. However, it remains uncertain if he will pitch again this season. The team plans to assess his condition when they return to Los Angeles next week.
