Shubman Gill Achieves 3,000 Test Runs Milestone
Shubman Gill reached a significant milestone in his Test cricket career on Sunday, becoming the fourth-youngest Indian to score 3,000 runs. This achievement occurred on the first day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
Entering the match needing just seven runs, Gill accomplished the feat in the 23rd over with a boundary off Keshara Nuwantha. At 26 years and 349 days, he surpassed former captain Kapil Dev, who achieved the milestone at 26 years and 356 days.
Gill joins an elite group that includes Sachin Tendulkar, who reached 3,000 runs at 23 years and 228 days, and Virender Sehwag, who did so at 26 years and 157 days. Gill had narrowly missed the milestone in the first Test at Galle but quickly made up for it in Colombo.
