Shubman Gill Praises Manav Suthar's Performance in Test Victory
Shubman Gill, the captain of the Indian cricket team, praised Manav Suthar following his remarkable performance in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. Suthar, a 24-year-old left-arm spinner, achieved a match haul of 10 wickets, contributing significantly to India's 165-run victory.
Suthar's performance included figures of 4/76 in the first innings and 6/55 in the second, marking his second consecutive five-wicket haul in Tests. This achievement made him the youngest Indian to secure a 10-wicket haul in an away Test match.
In addition to Suthar's success, Gill also acknowledged Devdutt Padikkal, who was named Player of the Match for scoring 211 runs across both innings. The victory earned India 12 points in the World Test Championship, although they remain fifth in the standings. Gill emphasized the team's goal of reaching the WTC final despite concerns about weather interruptions during the match.
